Initially skiing was strictly a gravity-assisted endeavor for me. Fortunately, my family was uncooperative in getting me to an alpine area, and instead offered the suggestion of skiing up the hills rather than down them. Despite my initial resistance, I became an addict to the endorphin rush of X-C skiing as a young adolescent.

My first team experience was the Rhinelander, WI high school team, which won the state X-C skiing championships 3 of my 4 years on the team. At college, I skied for UW- Green Bay, qualifying for NCAA Nationals 3 years in a row, and was academic all-american.

Needing a back-up plan in case professional skiing didn't work out, I went on to study medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Currently based out of Duluth, MN, I work shifts in local emergency rooms while racing marathons for the Fischer/Craft team.

I am looking forward to the upcoming season, especially the Midwest marathons and I will be making a trip to Europe in January to knock heads with the euro marathon skiers in the FIS Marathon Cup at the Jizerskå 50 in the Czech Republic on Jan 13th and the Dolomitenlauf in Austria on Jan 20th. After that, it is back to the US to gear up for the City of Lakes Loppet, the Mora Vasaloppet and the Birkie.

Keep yer stick on the ice - Adam
