Brayton grew up in the saunas and sugarhouses of Putney, Vermont, which have been filled with tales of training and racing since long before his time. It was an atmosphere where being a ski racer required no further explanation and Olympic dreams grew easily.

Brayton's own career started early, when he was two, and skiing has been a part of his life ever since. A couple of NCAA All-American results in his senior year at Dartmouth convinced Brayton that making an Olympic team was something he wanted to pursue in his life after school.

Since graduation, Brayton raced for SMS and MWSC before migrating to Bend and XC Oregon. Along the way, he been to U-23 World Championships, picked up a few top 10's at Nationals, some SuperTour wins and skied well enough in Europe to want to go back and get some real results. Right now, Brayton's life is pointed to Vancouver 2010 - he can't wait for this season to get started.
